World Youth Day in Krakow

Fifty places are available for young people from this Diocese. The age range is 16 to 23. The all-inclusive cost is £750 for the week as well as preparation weekends. Join millions of young people from around the world for the event of a life-time! For more information, visit or

Holiday at Villa Palazzola

I have booked to take a group out to the Villa Palazzola, a little to the south of Rome in the Alban Hills, in 2016 for a holiday. The setting is beautiful and relaxing and there are opportunities to explore the local area as well as to go down into Rome for a day. I am giving parishioners of St Mary's the first opportunity to book their places for a returnable deposit of £50. Please pick up the leaflet at the back of church to find out more and to book your place.

Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes, Youth Section

Travel by coach or ‘plane to Lourdes joining 80 other young people from across the Diocese. Get to know each other and serve the sick and elderly. You will love it. Check it out at under Events. Please note, last year, the pilgrimage was full long before the closing date so don’t delay in getting forms filled in and deposits sent off! For a booking form, ask Father Michael.

The pilgrimage will be led by Bishop Michael. For the adult section, please see the posters at the back of church.

9th to 16th May 2015

A Pilgrimage to Medjugorje led by Sister Philomena Dunning. The cost of the pilgrimage is £439 on a half-board basis and sharing a room.

Cafod Lancaster Mass of Remembrance - at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Westby Mills at 11 am to remember and hold in prayer all deceased Cafod supporters from our Diocese, celebrating their lives,

faith and compassion.If you would like to remember a loved one (even if you can’t attend the Mass), please send their names to or telephone 01772 733310 by 15th. November and they will be included in the Book of Remembrance.


16th November 2014

Liturgy of Prayerful Remembrance at 4pm - an opportunity for the whole parish community to come together to remember, honour and pray for our dead. We will try to pray by name for those who have died in the last twelve months or so, and there will be a personal invite for the families of those people whose funerals have taken place in St. Mary’s during the last year. The Liturgy itself will be simple, reflective and a source of comfort and hope for people who are grieving.

St Mary's Parish Christmas Fair

Raffle tickets are now on sale and you are asked to take some to try and sell to family and friends. There is a list at the back of church if you wish to donate a prize for the Grand Draw, either a gift or money towards the Star Prize. Items are needed to sell at the Fair and you are asked if you could donate something for the various stalls and suggestions are:

toiletries; groceries; good as new items; bottles (such as wine, etc.) for the bottle stall; paperback books; toys or games (complete and in good condition); sweets and chocolates.

Cake bakers will be asked nearer the date to bake some of their delicious cakes either for the Cake Stall or to sell with the refreshments.

The Christmas Fair is our main fund raising event and without your help it wouldn’t happen, so you are asked to support it in any way you can.

Christmas Fair Bottle Stall Quiz Night, with pie and pea supper in the Millennium Room at 7.30 p.m. Tickets are £4. Get your team of four people together. Come and join in the fun which will include a raffle, “One for the Pot” and Irish bingo!

Celebration of the Word with Children

A two-part series here at St Mary's for people involved in "Children's Liturgy", by Simon Stewart - lay chaplain at St. Mary’s College in Blackpool.

Brave of Heart

Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Our patronal feast and a holy day of obligation – there will be a feast day celebration of Mass at 7 pm followed by a social gathering in the millennium room. Please come to honour Mary, our patron, on this, her greatest feast.
