SUPPORTING FLEETWOOD TOGETHER

Have you heard of "Fleetwood Together"?  Did you know that they are currently feeding 500 families or 1,900 people in the Borough of Wyre? Local people can collect a weekly order from "The Pantry", situated in the old Fleetwood Hospital building, but the majority receive their food by home delivery.  The catchment area extends to Over Wyre and relies on volunteers to provide the service.

So who are they?

Fleetwood Together comprises representatives from local groups including Fleetwood Town Community Trust, Healthier Fleetwood, Wyre Council, West View Community Centre, Fleetwood Trust, Rossall School, The Fisherman's Mission, Mustard Seed, Men's Shed, the Church of England, the Roman Catholic Church and the United Reformed Church.

Together, they are seeking to co-ordinate the community response to the Coronavirus Pandemic in Fleetwood.

St Mary's Church being situated in the town centre would like to contribute to this local project.

Fleetwood Together depend on donations of food and money. At present they particularly need what can be classed as "food cupboard essentials".  Rice, pasta, packet noodles, any tinned food, UHT milk, beverages, cereals and other non-perishable items.  They can take chilled or frozen items, BUT, you need to contact them by phone in advance, to arrange drop off.

Perhaps when you purchase your weekly shopping you could get a few extra items to donate to this worthy cause.  These can be delivered by you direct to the Marine Hall.  There are grey doors at the back - facing the promenade. Knock on the door and somebody will take your items.  Alternatively we are collecting at St Mary's Church.  There is a collection box on the table in the lobby.  Please deposit your items in there and we will arrange delivery to the Marine Hall.

Our church is open most days.  Just pop in if you are passing, or leave items with us when you attend Mass.

If you wish to donate money, they are open Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm.

Alternatively, you can leave a donation with Fr Michael who will pass it on for you.

They also require volunteers.  This may involve helping at the Marine Hall, The Pantry, or more importantly making home deliveries to those who rely on this valuable service.
